A Thing For Musicians is the first episode of Season 1 of Totally Spies!.

Synopsis[]

The girls are sent undercover to pose as musicians while on a concert tour with Ricky Mathis as they attempt to find out why his music is causing people to become crazy, destructive delinquents. It's not long before they discover that Sebastian Saga, a former rock guitarist who lost his left arm in a pyrotechnical stage accident, has altered the frequencies from Ricky's music in order to brainwash the world into becoming his slaves. As Clover falls victim to his plan, it is up to Sam and Alex to save the world from the crazed fans and Sebastian.

In the B-story, Clover has a crush on Daimon Reynolds, a new boy at Beverly Hills High who plays the guitar.

This is the episode in which the "Upwhatty" joke was initiated. Alex says it when she, Clover and Sam are introduced to the Underwater Power Walking Apparatus That's Inconspicuous (Jerry introduces the gadget/vehicle by calling it by its acronym, pronounced "up-watt-ee"). This is a recurring joke in the series whenever the spies are assigned the gadget/vehicle for a mission.
Alex makes shadow puppets with her hand during the briefing.
Several scenes from this episode are used during the credits montage in season 1 and season 2.
Although this is the first episode, Clover does not wear her catsuit.
While on top of the truck with Ricky, the hypnotized fans managed to rip off some of Alex's catsuit.
This is the pilot episode of ”Totally Spies!”.
In French it is titled ”On Connaît La Musique” (”to know the score”).

Error[]

Goof: When it shifts to the girls at school the screen says 12:00 AM, but it should say 12:00 PM due to taking place in the daytime.
Goof: When Mandy is talking to Clover at the fountain about Daimon, Clover's midriff is shown to be the same color as her shirt. However, when she stands up and walks away, it returns to its normal colour.
Goof: The WOOHP file on Ricky Mathis misspells his name as "Rickiy Mathis" and his actual name "Richad Mathis".
Goof: When the girls are at the recording studio, Sam is seen without her boots but when she walked up using the Ultra Sensitive Hearing Microphone, there are boot sounds as she walks.
Goof: When Sam says that Clover falls in love more often than Mandy maxes out her credit card Alex is wearing heels instead of boots.
Goof: When Clover decides to call Daimon from the hotel her glasses disappear.
Goof: Clover calls Daimon's cellphone, even though she wasn't given his number.
Goof: When Alex makes a shadow dog during Jerry's explanation, her hand has 2 thumbs.
Goof: When the girls get back to school at the end of the episode, Sam's hair is shown to be chest length. However, in the next scene, it changes to waist length. However, this could be due to the rest of her hair being hidden behind her back.
